The Scottish Gliding Association was reformed in 1986 and has no regulatory role but is an organisation to enable the Scottish clubs to work together for the benefit of the sport more formally than might otherwise have been the case.
It is the representative body for the sport in Scotland when dealing with government departments, with local authorities, and other statutory bodies, so far as it is not appropriate for the British Gliding Association to do so.
